This year’s Google I/O was just mind-boggling, there are so many new updates that were announced that it is still sinking in. We think Google has found the breakeven point of handling both your daily routine with the latest technology absolutely seamlessly. Let’s take a look at some of the updates that Digital 24 team liked the most and are eagerly waiting to experience.
1. Google assistant
it’s astonishing to witness how far google assistant has come and how it has become an integral part of people’s lives today. The newest addition to this AI is that it can be accessed by saying please, which we feel is the way to go as people especially kids will learn to be polite and humble from an early age, moreover, in return Google assistant will thank and compliment the user who asks things politely. Well, saying please hasn’t harmed anyone ever now, is it?
2. The all-new Dashboard
This year Google I/O was all about reclaiming time. Time from your calls and messages, time from your phone, and time for your loved ones. This initiative from Google is truly praiseworthy. Although it is not perfect for the time being in some time after feedbacks from users we are positive it will become a habit of people to use this app regularly just like Google maps has become a go-to app before leaving your home. What dashboard does is records how much time you spent on different apps, how many times you unlocked your phone and how many notifications you received in a day so that you can analyze how you use your phone and how you can lay off the excess time, in turn, making time for things that matter. We are happy of Google’s initiative of taking a stand for growing problem of smartphone dependency and hope people understand and spend the time to live their life to the fullest rather than becoming a slave of technology.
3. Google Photos
The smart features that have been added to Google photos are just mesmerizing, it has to be one of our best updates this year that Google has announced. The colorization feature of old black and white images are just mind blowing and sure to bring a smile to your parents or grandparents instantly. Another smart feature is the ability to recognize, scan and convert documents to PDF which frankly was long overdue.
4. Google Duplex
This was the highlight of the show, after looking at the first demonstration of the AI in action I was like “whaaaaat”
and that “mm-hmm” while booking an appointment was so cute.
We are so eager to find out how Google go with this as Google duplex has so much potential to be implemented in many other features as well. What it does is that google assistant will literally call the concerned place to book a haircut appointment or book a table at a restaurant for you
5. Google maps
In recent years Google maps have become quintessential for daily commuters to avoid massive traffic jams and reach office on time. It is really a boon for everyone to commute on a daily basis and avoiding traffic jams, and believe me it has become more exciting than ever.
In our opinion, Google maps walking directions update is hands down the best update announced this year.
While combining street view, AR and maps you can identify places and get to know exactly where you are, it will also guide you as to where you should turn to stay on the course your destination. The introduction of that fox as an assistant makes using google maps more interesting.
All in all the new Google OS “P” is sure to pack a punch with the integration of numerous advanced technologies.
We can’t wait to get our hands the new operating system and check out the new features. And yeah finally the beer mug emoji is following the laws of physics, it is great to know that Google has taken this initiative to listen to customer views and grievances and work on them to make their lives easier.
